Enjoying My Days

After a great night out with two of my favorite people, my Pop.Bop.Shop gal-pal made a point during our gab session that really hit home with me - she schedules "me-time" each week, so the craziness of life doesn't consume her.

For most people, the work week consists of: wake up, go to work, go to bed, repeat. In all honestly, I'm typically one of those people for the simple fact that I get super tired if I don't get 8 hours of sleep - MINIMUM. However, I'm turning over a new leaf (add this to my list of New Year resolutions) - I plan to do something I enjoy 3 nights during the work week. This could include: going out to dinner, getting drinks (a personal favorite), spending time with N, playing Sequence, visiting my family or just watching a movie.

P.B.S. goes out every night and does it with ease. This scares me a bit because I would be a zombie at work the next day, but she reassured me that it's doable and well worth it.

I don't want to live to work, I want to work to live, so wish me luck l.i.v.i.n.g. it up!

Resolutions

So now that my hangover has worn off, I will try to list my New Year's resolutions:
  • Determine who matters and who doesn't
  • Become a recessionista
  • Perfect a signature dish
  • Start sleeping through the night and take more vitamins
  • Try not to mix alcohol - always ends poorly
  • Read - the Metro no longer counts
  • Take things less seriously

And that's all I can think of right now. What are your resolutions?

Heyyy 2009

HURRY UP AND GET HERE! Let's just say that 2008 was a big flop in my book. I was confident that it was bound to get better and the glimmers of hope faded fast. Oh sure, there were highlights, but as a whole, 2008 = the worst.

I'm excited for a new year and a new start.

In a Nutshell

This is what my life consists of lately:

6:00am - wake up, get ready
7:20am - drive to train station
7:42am - get on the train after waiting in the freezing cold for approx. 15 minutes (some days in the rain - let me tell you, I will be investing in an umbrella)
8:10am - get to new job, attempt the Metro crossword puzzle
8:30am - start the work day
5:41pm - wish I was getting on the train
6:38pm - pray I make the train (If not, I call Dad or the boy and hope I can score a ride)
Anytime between 7pm and 9pm - GET HOME :)

I then eat a quick dinner and pass out.

The things I miss:

A 5-minute commute (driving)
The gym
My RPG friends
Sleeping through the night
Seeing the boy at normal hours of the day

My hope is this is just a transition and I will fall into a routine sooner than later. Fingers crossed.

MIA

I know, I know...I've been MIA. BUT I'm back in action. I have a new job and new outlook on life. I'll be back shortly with an update.
